Words to Live By Since 1993 A SPIFF Publication Vol. 2, No. 18 Can we deduct last year's taxes as a bad investment? The Funeral We at Spiff were struck by many things, good and bad, during the funeral for President Nixon. Although he made many mistakes during his presidency, price controls, the EPA, the first "water" scandal, it was good to see the respect he had earned during the later years of his life. Of course, some of the medialibs just couldn't let go for even a day. C-Span invited medialib commentator Jules Whitcover to provide commentary during the flight of Mr. Nixon's body to California. As you would expect, Whitcover took the opportunity to savage Mr. Nixon one last time. But, as you might not expect, the people who called in to voice their opinions, savaged Whitcover in return. We knew the people had it in them. During the funeral itself many things occurred that demand comment. The presidents in attendance proceeded to their seats in the order of their election. As they walked to their seats, The President and Mrs. Reagan held hands. Seeing that, President Clinton and Bill immediately grabbed hands and faked it. As they were walking, they were talking and laughing. They obviously didn't care about their surroundings, until Bill noticed that a camera and that "I feel your pain" look came over his face. Demonstrating, once again, how phony these people are. As each couple took their seats, The Fords, the Carters, the Bushes all were welcomed and, of course, The President and Mrs. Reagan received a wonderful welcome. But, when the Clintons arrived, the audience fell silent (except for the Congresslibs who were kissing up). Whatever your feelings about President Nixon, the reaction from many different people was striking. Many who are too young to remember Watergate were inspired by Mr. Nixon's achievements without the distortions of media bias. Even those who do remember, except idiots like Jules Whitcover, began to reevaluate their opinion of the man, especially after seeing the dignity his family displayed during the services. Only time will tell what his place will be in history will be but one lesson is clear. Sometimes the true effects of a liberal media are revealed only when it's too late. Will history judge Nixon fairly? If Dan Rather Biased and his ilk have their way, no. But, as time passes, we have a sneaking suspicion that many will miss Richard Nixon even more than they, themselves, may realize. As he once said, "Politics is never heaven and it is sometimes hell, but it was worth the trip." How (If?) He Thinks Every once in a while, we here at Spiff find a quote or a comment that speaks volumes about the way liberals think and what separates us from them ideologically. Such was the case following President Nixon's funeral last week. While discussing how he felt our pain over the loss of President Nixon, Bill Clinton compared his emotions to those he felt following the death of his mother. He relayed a story of beginning to call his mother before realizing that she had passed on and said he felt the same desire to contact Richard Nixon. The story ended with Bill discussing the determination of his mother when he was defeated in his bid for reelection as governor of Arkansas in 1980. Bill said that, "I had the distinction of being the youngest former governor in the history of the United States. I was out of a job. I didn't know where my next nickle was coming from. Within three or four days, she decided that I could be reelected governor." Spiff does not doubt Bill's feelings for his mother, but that is not the part of the quote that caught our attention. The part we noticed was that once Bill had lost his political office, he had no idea what to do with his life except prepare for his next run at politics. This is why we will always oppose people like President Clinton and Bill. How can people who don't believe in or want no part of the true strength of America do anything to positively effect our lives. This devotion to government and its omnipotence lies at the core of why these people think as they do and why they try to force their "Utopia" on us. Of course we also realize that there is a small political gain to be made by the policies of the Clintons, the Kennedys, the Sassers, and the Clements of the world. They are not (although they act like it) stupid people. They know how to get the government to make them look important. They know that the more people you make dependent on the government, the easier your reelection and the more power you get. How else do you explain someone like Your Congressman Bob Clement. This boob has spent most of his adult life job-hoping from one government office to the next in a desperate attempt to make himself important. Hey Bob, it didn't work! But the high priest and priestess of government worship will always be President Clinton and Bill. They have set a standard for stupid government that will be hard to surpass. If you ever doubt the drive and desire of this woperson and her husband to become a permanent fixture in our lives through the government, save this copy of WTLB. Refer back to it when you have doubts about their intentions. We don't want to keep reminding you. Class Is Not In Session For over a year now, we have watched the manner in which the people currently residing in the White House, their family, and the family of the Vice President have conducted themselves as representatives of our nation and its people. Let's look at a few examples of the decorum with which they have acted: ù In a moment of giddiness following their inauguration, Vice President Owl Gore reveals his underwear to Bill Clinton in the Oval Office. ù The Vice President's wife rides around on the back of a Harley-Davidson and reveals that she listens to Grateful Dead Music (We're not sure if she labeled it first.) ù Bill Clinton's brother is married in a lavish ceremony were the bride wears a bridal maternity dress. ù New relatives pop up everywhere. ù We are constantly made to endure stories of Bill's philandering. ù As the hounds of Whitewater close in on Bill, he spends the evening after Richard Nixon's death making underwear jokes before the Washington press (underwear must be very important to these people.) The only conclusion we can draw from these and other examples is that 43% of us have given birth to history's first white trash presidency. At this point, we are very close to changing the name from the White House to the White Trailer. It has become apparent that in their drive to portray themselves as average people (who make $5,000 a day in cattle futures) they have once again managed to insult us by seeming to believe that average people are classless and shameless individuals who have little or no morals. How else can you explain these stupid things they do? Quote of the weak: "Not guilty." Another Kevorkian jury Quote of the strong: "In this era where some people believe in political correctness, I believe in truth, which is different."
